*  Voordat u inskryf, lees asseblief die Algemene en Spesiale Reëls van hierdie afdeling sodat die kandidaat presies weet wat van hom/haar verwag word. Waak teen oorhaastige inskrywings wat later weer verander moet word.

*  Before entering please read the General and Special Rules for this section carefully and pay attention to what is expected from participating candidates! Guard against hasty entries – these cause a lot of mistakes.

*  Inskrywingsgeld/Entry Fee:  R100 per item

Maks Tydsduur/Max Duration:

Gr/Grd 1 - 7: 3 min

Gr/Grd 8 - 12: 4 min

*  NB!

*  NB! An important adjustment is made to the Light Music Vocal (LM) section. This section is now divided in 2 in order to ensure that similar singers and voice types are measured and adjudicated in a category. This division will ensure that adjudication will be fair in the sense that similar singers are measured against each other.

Ligtemusiek Vokaal / Light Music Vocal

A. Kontemporêr / Contemporary

Voorbeelde sluit in Adele, Celine Dion, Juanita du Plessis, Demi Lovato, Pink, Diana Krall, Ed Sheeran, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Michael Bublé, Sam Smith, and Keith Urban

Light contemporary music is the section for singers that focuses on “speech level” singing (in other words, the singer’s speaking and singing voice is the same in terms of sound and quality). Singers with a chest sound and forward projection fall within this division. Examples include Adele, Celine Dion, Juanita du Plessis, Demi Lovato, Pink, Diana Krall, Ed Sheeran, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Michael Buble, Sam Smith, and Keith Urban.

B. Klassieke “Crossover” / Classical Crossover

Voorbeelde sluit in Catherine Jenkins, Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman, Jackie Evancho, Nianell, Corlea, Sarah McLachlan, and Jannie Moolman.

The Classical Crossover section focuses on the light classical or crossover voices. Singers that are trained in the bel canto singing technique fall within this division. This division caters for singers with a more head voice tone, head resonator and prominent vibrato. Not pure classical or opera, neither pure contemporary, but a “crossover” style that fits in between the two. Examples include Catherine Jenkins, Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman, Jackie Evancho, Nianell, Corlea, Sarah McLachlan, and Jannie Moolman.

NB!

NB! One division is not better than the other, just different. Please ensure that you enter into the right division.
